ARTIST STATEMENT

Merging the act of creation with personal experiences in nature inspires an ability to express visceral imagery from memory- recalling the lines, colors and uniqueness.

The series of works refer to ideas about anxiety, obsessiveness, personal perceptions and contorted memories. Vague environments developed on canvas containing associations and symbols bringing to focus “the uncontrollable”-thoughts, memories, feelings. A playful tension between depth and subject or color and texture leaving the viewer with apprehension.

My series of work is a documentation of moments outwardly experienced, inwardly digested, and regurgitated through manipulated medium. Exposed once more to observations and criticism by the viewer. And the cycle goes on.
